VACUUM PUMP

The peculiarity derives from the fact that it is designed to be connected to a vacuum pump. This pump, by sucking in air from inside the distillation circuit, reduces the pressure inside the system and, consequently, lowers the boiling temperature (evaporation) of the liquid to be treated.

To better understand this concept, consider how the temperature of boiling water changes: on the sea level the water boils at 100 ° C while in high mountains, for example at 4000 meters above sea level, it boils at 86 ° C. This happens because atmospheric pressure is lower.

With the rotary evaporator it is possible to distill even at 20 ° C.

LOW TEMPERATURE

In addition to lowering the pressure, sucking the air out of the system, has another consequence: within the circuit the amount of oxygen will be extremely low, significantly reducing the oxidation of what you are going to use.
